Is your Air Conditioner not cooling enough?

The summer is at its peak and if your air conditioners are not running well you must be feeling terrible this season. Sometimes we realize that the air conditioner appears to be in good condition and it's giving out cool air but not cold enough as should be.

So, before planning to call in a mechanic, there are few things you can do which might help to rectify the problem of the air conditioner (AC).

The first thing you can do is to check the temperature of the air going in the AC and the temperature of the air being blown out by the AC into your room. You can use a thermometer to check the temperature. The ideal difference between temperatures should be 15 degrees. Say, if the temperature of the air going in AC is 75 degrees, the temperature of the air being blown out of the AC should be approximately 60 degrees or less. Hence, if the difference is 15 degrees, your AC is working perfectly. But if the difference of temperature is less than 15 degrees you need do some checks.

First of all, check Air damper and make sure that it is closed properly. If it is open, it could have been the cause of the problem as it might have been bringing in hot air from outside, thereby reducing the efficiency of your AC.

The other cause could be back cover. If your AC has a over on it then remove it. Sometimes, during winters many of us place a cover on outside portion of the AC to protect it from harsh cold weather and tend to forget removing it when summer arrives. A cover also reduces the efficiency of the air conditioners.
The third thing you can check is the condensing coils of the air conditioners. The condensing coils are always on the warm side of the AC. That's exactly the side facing outside of the room which is to be cooled. Air is being drawn into the back of the AC on the sides through the vent slots which is then directly blown through these condensing coils. In case the coils get clogged with dust or lint, it could hamper the cooling system of the unit.

So you require cleaning the coils by removing the entire cover of the Air Conditioning .The condensing coils can be cleaned by blowing in compressed air or by using a soft bristle brush to wipe the dirt off the coils. Cleaning will help to condensate water to be picked up by the condensing fan stinger properly for good cooling.

These steps might help you to fix the cooling problem of the AC without calling any mechanic. And you can enjoy the summer with great comfort. And even after this, if your AC still isn’t cooling enough you should surely call in a mechanic.

If you haven't had any problems with your central air conditioner, you've been lucky. Many homeowners experience some kind of system problem that requires air conditioning repair.

Emergency Services ac repair Richmond

During a heat wave, you can't wait, even a few days, to have your air conditioning fixed. Because you never know when your AC unit will break down, it's important to find a contractor that is available for emergencies in case your air conditioner goes out in the middle of the night or on a weekend.

Great tips! In the Dayton,Ohio right now we are encountering a prolonged heat wave this week that we have not had since 1999. Needless to say we have had countless calls for AC Repair from customers who's air conditioners are being over worked right now due to the lack of a proper air conditioning maintenance program and they are paying the price for their neglect now.

..or it's probably not getting cleaned once every two weeks. Dust is cool air's enemy and we should get rid of it. A dirty AC is like asthma-in-the-making for your family. We should not take risks when it comes to our family's health, you know.

Check the gauge again. If it's still not working, then there's probably something wrong with it. I suggest you research about air-conditioner troubleshooting. That might be of help to you, or maybe you can call professional air-conditioning services.

The number one way to help the AC cool your house is for you to help cool the AC. With the absence of trees, the next best thing is to erect a structure over the AC. Use large-hole lattice work. However, make sure it rises at least 3 feet above and around the AC structure to allow for the AC to breath and remove the house heat. Do NOT cover it with anything solid: the AC needs to breath. The drop in temperature inside the house will be especially dramatic if the AC is presently located on the South or West side of the house.

The condensing coils can be cleaned by blowing in compressed air or by using a soft bristle brush to wipe the dirt off the coils. I definitely agree with this.
